The Shaker kitchen in Newcastle is one of the most popular styles today. At Kitchen Innovations, we capture the look you want with our 1909 Kitchen Design. The word Shaker references a late 18th Century breakaway offshoot of Quakers from Manchester who became known as Shakers. We capture the best of the Shaker look and integrate modern innovations such as built in appliances and granite worktops. We do it without losing the essential British influence the Shakers brought to their enduring furniture which is simple, durable and functional. The Shakers were craftsmen with high standards who did not hold with ornamentation. You have to wonder if they would have been upset to know their workmanship was so revered in its simplicity, ornamentation would have been a distraction
We haven’t been around as long as the Shakers but we do have 34 years of experience perfecting the skills for which they were renowned. In Newcastle, Shaker kitchens we build today exhibit the same beautiful painted colours they used on the available pine, maple and cherry timbers. They used mostly blues, greens, yellows and reds. Our paints and colour blends today are much richer and while we do use metal furnishings instead of wood knobs, we tend toward the minimalist. The authentic Shaker kitchen was created from free standing components. We include one freestanding piece in an otherwise kitchen of built-ins to create that Shaker feel. Glass fronted cabinets and open shelving help complete the look.
The Shaker Kitchen in Newcastle can be designed to fit into any style home. Contact Kitchen Innovations and let’s talk about blending a Shaker kitchen into your home environment. All planning, management, skilled labour and interior design is carried out by our own experienced team. We maintain quality control from start to finish. Tour our two-storey showroom and be inspired by our designs which include Shaker Kitchens as well as other beautiful ideas and styles. The Shaker kitchen today is a hybrid. We kept all the charming simplicity and fine craftsmanship and kept the feel of free standing furnishings. We also kept the open shelving with baskets for storage and glass front cabinets for displaying treasures. Then we added gorgeous stone worktops, modern convenience appliances and effective lighting. The result is elegant and functional Shaker simplicity.
